Jodi, glad to hear that Illinois is working on sibling rights. I'd be interested to hear more on the current state of things. Regarding Adoption and the Maine Sibling law- the bill originally adressed siblings who'd been adopted but after being researched by the AG's office the language had to be striken to save the rest of the bill. There was some questions about the constitutionality of adoptive parents being ordered to maintain visits. However, Maine DHHS is working hard to make sure that all adoptive parents agree to sibling visits before the adoption goes through if there is no possibly way to have the group adopted together. I plan on revisiting and hopefully expanding siblings rights in Maine and hope others will join me.
