According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there were approximately 21,840 injuries from BB guns, pellet guns, air rifles, and paintball guns in 2000. Each year about 3.2 million such weapons are sold as toys in stores across the country.
