[1]“You want my vote? Invest in kids!”
That’s the message the Every Child Matters Education Fund and its local, state and national partners are sending to elected official across the country.
With the latest Census Bureau data showing the highest child poverty rate in a decade, and our nation’s poor showing on several recent comparisons of child well-being, now is the time to invest in children. (If you’re not sure government investment is linked to improved outcomes for kids, check out CFK's summary of the recent Geography Matters [3]report).
Pediatrician Dr. T. Berry Brazelton and Every Child Matters will kick off the event at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. At the same time, advocates, volunteers, and kids across the country will gather on the steps of state capitols to highlight the needs of children and families.
