The Good, the Bad, and What’s Real about Social Media in Child Advocacy?

All ‘a-twitter’ about social media in child advocacy communication? Lots of folks are. I’ve heard lots of chatter and curiosity and commotion at recent conferences, where putting Twitter and Facebook et al on the program is a guarantee of greater attendance.

But to what end? Are we just looking for connections with like-minded people, or a chance to move people to action—and just how would you do that with 140 characters per message? Who’s following whom, and for what? And how much of my time does it take each day to do it justice?

All of which brings us to this Child Advocacy 360 blog by Ray Schultz and Hershel Sarbin, where we invite meaningful commentary and gee whiz ideas in short form.

Our mission is to tell stories of success, failure, lessons learned in the nonprofit social media landscape, with particular focus on child and youth initiatives. We’ll reveal the good, the bad, and ‘what else is new’ wherever it seems relevant to the audience of professionals and activists we serve through our content partnership with Connect for Kids.
